Dr. Sarah Aylard is now seeing patients in our practice for the diagnosis and treatment of Orofacial Pain and Temporal Mandibular Disorders. Her practice is limited to this specialty area of dentistry. Orofacial Pain Dentists can help patients with TMJ disorders, Snoring and Sleep Apnea, Neuropathic Orofacial Pain, toothaches of non-dental origin, and Headache.
Dr. Aylard graduated with Dr. Hilton from the UCLA School of Dentistry in 1985. She then completed a 1-year General Practice Residency program at Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center in Downey, CA. After practicing in the Los Angeles area for 3 years, she moved to Napa, CA where she ran a successful private practice that focused on comprehensive, esthetic dental treatment. She worked with a network of dental specialists to provide coordinated, interdisciplinary care. While still practicing restorative dentistry, she was certified in oral conscious sedation.
Dr. Aylard has completed many hands-on courses in oral rehabilitation and esthetics. She has not only completed continuums in Dental Sleep Medicine, Orofacial Pain (OFP), and TMJ disorders (TMD), but has completed a one-year Advanced Clinical Training program in OFP, TMD, and Dental Sleep Medicine at UCLA in the Department of Oral Medicine. This rigorous training prepared her for the written and oral board exams necessary to become a specialist in these areas. Dr. Aylard is an Accredited former Member in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry(AAACD), a Diplomate in the American Board of Orofacial Pain, and a Fellow in the American Academy of Orofacial Pain.
Dr. Aylard is member of the American Dental Association, a former member in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, The American Academy of Orofacial Pain, The American Board of Orofacial Pain, The American Headache Society, and the Headache Cooperative of the Pacific. After 30 years in her restorative practice in Napa, Dr. Aylard has maintained a position as a clinical instructor in OFP, TMD and Sleep in the Department of Oral Medicine at the UCLA School of Dentistry.
Dr. Aylard was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. She worked her way through college and dental school as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. After 30 years in Napa, Dr. Aylard and her husband, a pediatric dentist, returned south to be closer to family. She enjoys cooking, hiking, running, and surfing.
